About My Services

Partnerships

Sometimes in relationships which have become tense and perhaps communication has broken down, life can be painful, for one reason or another. When exploring the meaning of day-to-day life, sometimes in examining what we don’t want, this is more important to know than what we do want, and why, and could help to find a solution. This may be in a marriage/common-law partnership or in a business partnership. For ethical reasons I would be unable to work individually with both people.

Family relationships

We all have different childhoods, there is no such thing as a perfect childhood, they don’t seem to exist. However, as we go through phases of our lives, and become an adult, we may have family relationships with parents, parents-in-law, children, grandchildren, partners, extended family. We may find several strands come together in our day-to-day life, encompassing perhaps, disability, ill health, bereavement, care needs.

Self

At the dawn of each day when we wake up, we are a sum total of our past. All childhoods are different which means they bring different levels of stress to our adult lives. We may simply leave home, for study or work, and move on to begin our adult days. If we were a care leaver life may be more complex without further support. If we have suffered an abusive childhood, life may be hard to navigate without the nurturing experiences we would have liked to have received as a child.

Perhaps in all of these situations, valuing self, or self-compassion for all that we are, may be difficult to think about let alone feel. Exploring habitual ways of being and thinking, may be fruitful. Further traumas in adult life can increase our difficulty.

Contract

We will work to a written contract.

First we will arrange an initial assessment which is free of charge. During this we will take a history and discuss which aspect of your life you wish to focus on, enabling me to decide if I can offer what you need in the way of therapy provision.

Your wellbeing is important. Assessments allow us to see if we are well suited and can work together.
